Agents generate time and money, says study
Not everything is bad news for travel agents when it comes to war online. A study reproduced by the American Society of Travel Agents (Asta) points out that this professional category has been responsible for an average savings of US $ 452 per trip for consumers, plus four hours of planning. At least in the United States.
Based on past experience, 69% of consumers surveyed indicated that travel agents reduce time in planning and reservations; 66% said that these professionals helped them avoid mistakes; and 64% say they have done better business through agents. In addition, 63% of respondents indicated that buy through agents secured a travel experience higher than expected.
“This study debunks the idea that book direct with suppliers online and spend hours on the internet trying to find the best deals is always the best option. The survey also shows that online does not deliver the happiest travel experience, “says President and CEO of Asta, Zane Kerby.
According to the survey, travel agents are river cruises sales leaders in the United States, and they are linked with online vendors to sell cruises and tour packages. The US agents are also with good effect in the sale of all-inclusive resorts and travel insurance, also in partnership with suppliers online.
The study, whose translated name is “Best of both worlds: quantifying as agents generate time and money,” was made for 12 months. Almost half of consumers surveyed (47%) have booked through online vendors, followed by 25% who used OTAs, and 23% who booked via agents. These 23% was the highest share recorded in the last three years.
Approximately half who have not bought via agents in the last 12 months said they would buy their trips these professionals knew they would make the save.
